We welcome the funny, intense, loving Jami Amerine to our show.

Jami says -

I was forcibly pushed into blogging, and I LOVE IT!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!  I have met and interacted with people all over the world! I have never had so much fun. The psychobabble that I share on this blog is probably not the wisest on the internet, but if it resonates with a few, hey, that’ll do! I am a wife to Justin, and mother to Maggie, John, Luke, Sophie, Sam, and Charlie.  We are on a reprieve from foster care as we recover from the removal of a long-term placement.

My husband Justin and I have a ranch near our home and we love to travel and “just be.”  However, we recently relocated to the North Houston. I have a Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, and Human Development, but don’t let that fool you, I am not sure how I pulled that off. I also have an undergraduate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences (yeah, Home Ec.). I can cook anything, but don’t ask me to sew.So since this journey began I have been featured on numerous occasions on foreverymom.com and several other syndications sites including scarymommy.com and mamalode.com,

You can also find me on Fox News, Today Parenting, and Huffington!

Basically, you only have to read a couple of my blog posts to get the gist. It is pretty cut and dry. I love my husband and my kids, I am afraid of flying, my Xanax is on automatic refill, I am addicted to Jesus, Facebook, blogging, and babies. I love to travel and hang at my parents’ lake house outside of Houston, Texas. My dad is my #1 fan. My husband and sons don’t read my blog because they are dyslexic and are waiting for it to come out on audio.  I have run the gamut in trying to raise perfect humans and I am proud to say… I failed. They are imperfectly wonderful!  I am a Christian who tends to get snarky. I am anti-Jesus fish because I am a lousy driver, so I don’t think He wants me to advertise on my 12 passenger van for Him. And I have decided my political affiliation is Conservative, Liberal, Socialist.  I have my own ticket.

Such a fun talk!

We welcome Mark Karris to our heretical show to talk about prayer.

Mark Gregory Karris, the author of Divine Echoes, is a husband, licensed marriage and family therapist, ordained pastor, theologian, writer, recording artist, Red Cross volunteer and worship leader. He’s a voracious reader, researcher  and all around biophilic.

He has received a Masters in Counseling through the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack, N.Y., a Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School in N.J., and currently working through his PsyD from Alliant International University in San Diego.

Mark currently lives in San Diego. He is a therapist and facilitates workshops on topics such as attachment theory, shame, self-compassion, relationships, trauma, and others. Mark is an adjunct professor at Alliant International University. Mark also serves churches as a speaker, worship leader, and church consultant.

Mark’s book, entitled Season of Heartbreak: Healing for the Heart, Brian, and Soul, has recently been published by Kregel Publications (2017). You can check it out here: Season of Heartbreak

Mark’s pioneering research article on trauma and couple’s therapy has been published in a peer-reviewed journal [Karris, M., Caldwell, B. (2015) Integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy, Self-Compassion & Compassion-Focused Therapy to Assist Shame-Prone Couples who have Experienced Trauma, The Family Journal: Counseling and Therapy for Couples and Families]. You can check it out here: Research Article

Mark has an essay entitled, “Rethinking the Phrase “God Allowed,”” which is included in a recent book entitled Uncontrolling Love: Exploring the Uncontrolling Love of God (SacraSage Press, 2017). You can check it out here: Uncontrolling Love

I have been serving and ministering in various communities for over 20 years. I have a diverse and eclectic background that has not only changed and enriched my life but also gives me the ability to view the faith experience from many different vantage points and practice from many different perspectives. I have been involved with and served within many different denominations such as Christian & Missionary Alliance, Methodist, Southern Baptist, Pentecostal, including working in a Korean Presbyterian Church for four years. I have been taught and trained by extraordinary therapists, psychologists, pastors, spiritual leaders and theologians.
